Easier said than done huh? I have always been a person that visualized the end result while not wanting to go through the process. Why is that? I have no clue but I have learned that trusting the process is vital. For starters, there is no way around the process. Most people aren't actually scared to "trust" it, they are scared to "go through" it.
I remember my very first year as a teacher. 2006. I was fresh out of college and had gotten hired IMMEDIATELY after graduating. I had always planned to be an educator but it was NOTHING that I had visualized. Nothing at all lol. I kept getting notes and emails to sign and return my contract for the year but I was so uncertain about signing my life away. Lol. School started in August and by the following January, I was looking to leave the classroom. I wanted to stay in education but not as a classroom teacher.
I am not sure why I thought I was qualified to leave the classroom. I never found anything outside of the classroom and for the next few years I stayed in the classroom. Of course, I became a better teacher. I was comfortable, confident. I still wanted to leave the classroom but it didn't overwhelm my thoughts. I finally decided to go to grad school and level myself up even more. All while I stayed in the classroom.
I say all that to say that I had to trust the process. I had to go through the process. Now, a lot of years later, I am certified to be a K-12 principal in my state and ironically, I don't want to do that lol. You can actually obtain whatever you want to obtain in life. It is okay to visualize, day dream, etc. but you should understand that the "process" may switch some things up. That's okay. It happens. Just trust it all. It won't always be pretty or easy but it will certainly be worth it!
I just hit the one year mark on having Locs and I really had to trust the process. I wanted long beautiful Locs on day one but we all know that isn't the case. I appreciate where I am in the process. I am not where I was a year ago. I love my hair! The vision is something serious but the process is what matters.
Don't be afraid to be uncomfortable for a bit if it will help you to reach your goals. Do it regardless of your age, your past, your present!
Remember, a few minutes worth of personal work is more valuable than hours of thinking about it!
